India’s LNG import rising constantly!

Recent information from The Oil Ministry’s Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) indicates that India’s imports of Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) escalated in December on a yearly basis for the fourth successive month following a minor drop in the month of August.

Around a month ago India imported 2.03 billion cubic meters of LNG or 1.44 million mt. This was an ascent of 6.8% when contrasted with December 2016. These imports were expensed at $0.7 billion compared to $0.5 billion in December a year ago.

PPAC also said that the Domestic Natural Gas production constantly rose in December. The production increased form 0.5% to 2.75Bcm. India imported 19.38 Bcm or around 14.35 million mt of LNG in the April-December period, reportedly an ascent of 3.4% on the year.

India intends to increase the share of natural gas in its energy mix to 15% from around 6%, while also promising to double regasification capacity in the next three years.
