LNG will be used in Indian Railway to run passenger trains
January 3, 2017
With an objective to reduce Greenhouse Gas emission and to develop alternative source of fuel other than diesel, Indian Railway plans to convert existing Driving Power Cars (DPC) of Diesel Electric multiple unit (DEMU) into dual fuel mode using Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and diesel to run passenger trains. The converted DPC is expected to cut down diesel fuel consumption by 20%.
